Sword Dream technical note 20
Scenario Maker - the various versions
ScenarioMaker 1.6.2
Please note that the previous version was version 1.5. I chose to
give the newest ScenarioMaker version number 1.6.2 so it is aligned
with the latest Sword Dream.
New features
- ScenarioMaker now supports the "use small group icon" feature
introduced in Sword Dream 1.6.
- ScenarioMaker now allows you to automatically renumber the
icons used for painting the places (which have to have consecutive
numbers starting from 1000, up to a theoretical maximum of 9999).
This tedious operation used to be done by hand. Simply choose
"Crunch place icons" from the place menu to invoke the feature.
ScenarioMaker will automatically redraw the icons palette windoid.
Bug fixes
- ScenarioMaker used to block the Tab key from working in dialog
boxes. The Tab key now works correctly.
- The Macs used by programmers sometime use a System Extension
called EBBE (Even better bus error) or a replacement called LOBE
(less obnoxious bus error). Those extensions used to crash
ScenarioMaker on what they thought was a bug (but it wasn't).
ScenarioMaker 1.6.2 uses a slightly different startup code, so
EBBE and LOBE stay put. This change should also make ScenarioMaker
stable on the newest Power Macs, which sometimes crashed when
launching the old version.
ScenarioMaker 1.7.1
Please note that the previous version was version 1.6.2. I chose
to give the newest ScenarioMaker version number 1.7.1 so it is
aligned with the latest Sword Dream.
New features
This version runs at native speed on PowerPC Macintoshes.
Bug fixes
- On all Macs but the very fastest, clicking very quickly on one
arrow (in a scrollbar) would update the window with gargabe icons.
This is now fixed.
- Canceling the creation of a new place would confuse
ScenarioMaker 1.6.2; this is fine in version 1.7.1.
